At the start, it’s natural to give people the benefit of the doubt. But some patterns are worth noticing early, before feelings make them harder to see.
- Love-bombing: intense flattery, gifts and “I’ve never felt this way” within days.
- Pressure: pushing to move off SeekMyHeart, meet alone, or speed up physical closeness.
- Jealousy dressed as love: questioning who you talk to, checking your phone, getting upset when you see friends.
- Disrespect for “no”: sulking, guilt or anger when you set a limit.
- Stories that don’t add up — about work, family or where they live.
- Talk of money — any request for money, airtime or gift cards, for any reason.
- Cruelty about exes or others — how someone speaks about others is how they may one day speak about you.
