Trust and safety
Verified members
The verified badge tells you a member's photos are really of them. Here's how it works, and what it does and doesn't mean.
How verification works
-
We ask for a pose
In their account, the member is shown a random pose — for example a thumbs up or touching their left ear.
-
They take a selfie
They upload a clear selfie copying the pose, in good light and with only them in the picture. The random pose makes it hard to reuse someone else's photo.
-
Our team compares
A trained member of our team compares the selfie with the profile photos. If they match, the member gets the verified badge.
What the badge means — and what it doesn't
It does mean
- The profile photos are of the person who owns the account.
- A real person passed a live selfie check reviewed by our team.
It doesn't mean
- A background or criminal record check.
- That everything in the profile is true, or that someone's intentions are good.
Always follow our dating safety tips, whether someone is verified or not. Never send money to someone you met online.
Your verification selfie is private
- Only our verification team can see it. It is never shown on your profile or to other members.
- Location and other hidden data are removed from the photo when you upload it.
- It is deleted after review, under our privacy policy.
