Not every like becomes a match, and not every match becomes a relationship. Rejection hurts — but how you handle it says a lot about you, and protects your peace.
When someone doesn’t reply or says no
- Don’t chase. One follow-up message is plenty.
- Don’t take it as a verdict on your worth. Often it’s about timing, distance or what they’re looking for.
- Reply kindly if they explain — “Thanks for letting me know, I wish you well.”
When you need to say no
- Be clear and kind: “I’ve enjoyed talking, but I don’t feel we’re the right match.”
- Don’t leave people guessing for weeks.
- If someone won’t accept your answer, you can unmatch or block them at any time.
Looking after yourself
Talk to a friend, take a short break, and come back when you’re ready. Remember: you only need the right one.
